Chaiten Volcano in Southern Chile
This is the Chaiten volcano in southern Chile. It started erupting in May 2008, and it is still spewing ash into the air. Before that, scientists say the last eruption was in 7420 BC. Though it is a magnificent site, I definitely feel badly for those people who live in Chaiten. Talk about getting a bad deal. There are some very beautiful things to see in South America. Stay tuned for more pics from the ends of the earth!
